The Latvian SSR. The Salaspils memorial ensemble dedicated to the victims of Nazism. The memorial was built in place of a former Nazi concentration camp, de0ployed here during the German occupation of Latvia during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. Four sculptors, namely, L. Bukovsky, O. Skarainis, J. Zarins and E. Neizvestny, as well as a team of seven architects headed by G. K. Asaris, worked on the memorial complex. Photo: The Mother sculptured composition.
