The Memorial for Submariners who Died in Peacetime in Murmansk was unveiled in 2002. It was designed by architects Kireyeva and Bogdanova. The memorial complex is dominated by a 17.5 m high hexagonal lighthouse tower. Inside there is a museum with memorial plates dedicated to the dead sailors. Near the lighthouse there is a ship's anchor with a seawater capsule laid under it, as well as a fragment of the sunken Kursk submarine.
