Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin of the Armenian Apostolic Church is the seat of the Catholicos of All Armenians, the head of the church, in the city of Etchmiadzin, Armenian SSR. The remains of a tonir (hearth in a house), discovered during excavations in the 1950s under the altar of the Etchmiadzin Cathedral.
