

The Cathedral Basilica of Lima, or the Cathedral of Apostle and Evangelist St John belongs to the Roman Catholic Church and is located on the main square of the city. The construction of the first cathedral began in 1535, and it was rebuilt several times during its history. Its architect is Francisco Becerra, and it was founded by Francisco Pizarro. The building of the modern cathedral is the third in a row built in Lima.
