The Motherland Calling sculpture is the central element of a monument-ensemble Heroes of the Battle of Stalingrad on Mamayev Hill in Volgograd, formerly Stalingrad. The monument was designed by Yevgeny Vuchetich and Nikolai Nikitin, as well as architects Yakov Belopolsky and Veniamin Dyomin. Construction of the monument began in 1959 and was completed in 1967.
