The Old Saint Petersburg stock exchange is the central architectural element of the Strelka (Spit) of Vasilevsky island, built in 1816 by the French architect Jean-François Thomas de Thomon. Left, foreground and background: the rostral columns erected in 1810, also designed by Thomas de Thomon. In the 19th century, they served as lanterns for the port.
