Kuryanovo wastewater treatment plants (Kuryanovo aeration plants) are the largest in Europe (160 hectares). All the sewage water in the capital flows here, and here the waters of the Moskva River are purified. The effluent passes through numerous filters and settles in giant tanks. The resulting sediment (400,000 tons per year), before being taken to landfills, is kept at a temperature of 54 degrees for several days and cleaned in various ways. Station technician Ms. Ivanova takes samples of effluents for analysis.
