Georgian Soviet Socialist Republic. An unauthorized rally at the Government House on April 9, 1989, resulted in protesters clashing with government troops. Twenty-one people were killed and over 200 injured. The Internal Troops of the USSR Interior Ministry patrol Tbilisi streets during curfew imposed after the tragic events.
