Nikolai Petrakov, Soviet and Russian economist, corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Sciences, Deputy Director of the Central Economics and Mathematics Institute of the USSR Academy of Sciences (now Russian Academy of Sciences). In 1989, he was elected USSR People's Deputy and was Economic Assistant to the Secretary-General of the USSR Communist Party.
