

Destroying short-range missiles at a military testing ground in Saryozek (a village in the Almaty Region of the Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republic) under the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF Treaty) between the Soviet Union and the United States signed by Mikhail Gorbachev and Ronald Reagan on December 8, 1987, during a Soviet-American highest-level meeting in Washington. The treaty took effect on June 1, 1988. Since August 1988, 1,268 missiles have been destroyed at the testing ground in Saryozek. Preparing for the destruction of the five remaining missiles.
