Brazil. Research vessel Professor Shtokman of the USSR Academy of Sciences in the Amazon River waters. On board are Soviet biologists and members of a research expedition organized by the Ocean Studies Institute and the Latin America Institute of the USSR Academy of Sciences. The expedition that also involved Brazilian scientists was headed by Deputy Director of the Ocean Studies Institute, corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Sciences Mikhail Vinogradov.
