India sends humanitarian aid to the earthquake-hit Armenia. Aircraft will deliver 30 tons of aid to the Armenian Soviet Socialist Republic. A horrible magnitude 10 earthquake on December 7, 1988, completely destroyed the city of Spitak and 80% of the second largest Armenian city, Leninakan (now Gyumri). Other cities and towns in northern Armenia were also affected.
