Maxime Vachier-Lagrave of France and Wang Hao of China compete at the 2020 World Chess Candidates Tournament which was suspended at the halfway point due to the coronavirus pandemic on March, 2020, in Yekaterinburg, Russia. Russia's chess grandmaster Ian Nepomniachtchi won the World Chess Candidates Tournament ahead of schedule and now has the right to challenge the current World Champion Magnus Carlsen of Norway in November 2021 in Dubai.
