The capital of the Ukrainian SSR is virtually shrouded in greenery thanks to the efforts of the unit of tree planting at Kievzelenstroi municipal agency (currently Kiev municipal agency of landscaping and urban vegetation management Kievzelenstroi). A wide range of trees and shrubs are grown in a special nursery to be planted in the city's streets and parks.
