Special Astrophysics Observatory of the USSR Academy of Sciences (now Russian Academy of Sciences) in the Zelenchuksky District (Zelenchukskaya village) in the Karachayevo-Circassian Autonomous Republic. It was there that in 1974, the world's largest radio telescope, RATAN-600 (Radioastronomic Telescope of the Academy of Sciences) with a 600 m reflection mirror.
