The Baikal Gigaton Volume Detector (Baikal-GVD) deep underwater neutrino telescope, an international project in the field of astroparticle physics and neutrino astronomy, is seen during the launch ceremony on Lake Baikal, in Irkutsk Region, Russia. The primary goal of the project is the detailed study of the flux of high-energy cosmic neutrinos and the search for their sources. The telescope is to be installed 3,5 km offshore in Lake Baikal at the depth of 750-1300 m.
