Personnel of the Russian Defence Ministry's International Mine Action Centre attend a mine-clearing operation in Stepanakert hospital, the self-proclaimed Nagorno-Karabakh Republic. The operation includes demining the terrain, roads, and buildings and disposing of explosive hazardous objects. The detected explosive objects and abandoned or unserviceable ammunition are removed and destroyed at a specially prepared disposal site. Ammunition that cannot be removed is destroyed on-site using appropriate security measures. On 9 November, the leaders of Armenia, Russia, and Azerbaijan signed a ceasefire agreement to end the military conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh and to deploy a Russian peacekeeping force in the region.
