Lithuanian SSR. Vytautas Landsbergis-Zemkalnis, honorary guest and architect, attends the inaugural congress of the Lithuanian public and political organization Sajudis (Movement), which led the efforts aimed at the Lithuanian SSR's withdrawal from the USSR and restoring the Republic's independence during 1988-1990. The congress took place at Sports Palace in Vilnius on October 22-23, 1988.
