The Matviyenko family lives in the Krylatskoye District, a new elite district in western Moscow that ranks among environmentally friendliest and neatest city districts. In March 1987, British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher paid an official visit to the Soviet Union, toured the Krylatskoye District, talked to its residents and even visited the Matviyenko family's apartment. She presented a Wedgwood china cup to the hospitable Muscovites.
