The Ukrainian SSR. In 1888, this monument to Ghetman of Ukraine Bogdan Khmelnitsky was installed on Sofiiskaya Square in Kiev during celebrations of the 900th anniversary of the Baptism of Rus. The monument was built to a design by sculptor Mikhail Mikeshin and architect Vladimir Nikolayev.
