A Jewish pilgrim is pictured near the Novaya Guta crossing point on the Ukrainian - Belarusian border, Belarus. Thousands of Israeli Hasidic Jews annually arrive to take part in festive events on the occasion of Rosh Hashanah, Jewish New Year, at the grave of Rabbi Nachman of Breslov in the central Ukrainian town of Uman. Hasidim pilgrims wait because they get no permissions to cross the border from Ukrainian officials, in a neutral zone between Noviye Yarylovichi and Novaya Guta checkpoints on the Ukrainian - Belarusian border. Ukrainian and Israeli governments issued a joint statement earlier this year asking pilgrims to cancel their trip because of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.
