When the Great Patriotic War of 11941-1945 broke out, the children of Communists / political emigrants were relaxing at a Young Pioneer camp, affiliated with the International Society for Assisting Revolutionary Fighters, in Belarus. They were saved by residents of Novoyelnya village in the Grodno Region. In 1944, nuns from the Domboksky Convent cared for the children from that camp in the Trans-Carpathian Region.
