Containers with uranium hexafluoride nuclear waste are stored at the Ural Electrochemical Integrated Plant in Novouralsk, some 60 km north-west of Yekaterinburg, Russia. Russia's state nuclear company Rosatom had been importing uranium hexafluoride, or UF6, from Urenco fuel rod treatment facility in Gronau up until 2009. Reportedly Urenco has resumed shipments of radioactive waste product from Germany to Russia for future processing.
