The world-famous Soviet memorial complex in Treptower Park, the burial site of about five thousand Soviet soldiers, was inaugurated May 8, 1949. The artistic group was led by architect Yakov Belopolsky and sculptor Yevgeny Vuchetich. Sarcophagi with low reliefs depicting the most important events of the Patriotic War.
