Russian Orthodox Patriarch Kirill conducts a service marking the Feast of the Transfiguration, in St. Petersburg, Russia. In Eastern Slavic folk tradition on August 19 people celebrate The Apple Feast of the Saviour, this holiday has a pre-Christian origin and is associated with harvesting of ripe fruits, especially apples. Fruits are traditionally brought to church to be blessed after the Divine Liturgy on the day of the Transfiguration.
