Metropolitan Feofan of Kazan and Tatarstan blesses people with the holy water during the Feast of the Transfiguration celebration, at the village of Bolshie Kabany, in the Tatarstan republic, Russia. In Eastern Slavic folk tradition on August 19 people celebrate The Apple Feast of the Saviour, this holiday has a pre-Christian origin and is associated with harvesting of ripe fruits, especially apples. Fruits are traditionally brought to church to be blessed after the Divine Liturgy on the day of the Transfiguration.
