Magnitogorsk mayor Sergei Berdnikov speaks to the media at the site where a gas explosion partially destroyed the residential building in the industrial city of Magnitogorsk, Russia. About 6 a.m. local time on December 31 a natural gas blast hit one of the blocks of a 10-storey building damaging 48 apartments. The number of confirmed dead jumped to 37 on Thursday as rescuers recovered more bodies from the rubble of the partially collapsed building.
