Great Patriotic War of 1941 - 1945. In December 1944 - April 1945 the Soviet forces were liberating Hungary from German-Fascist Invaders. The Military Council of the 2nd Ukrainian Front assured the population in a special appeal that the Red Army enters Hungary not as a conqueror but as a liberator of the Hungarian people from the German-Fascist oppression.
