A view of the Zhitnaya Tower of the Astrakhan Kremlin (16th century). The name of the tower (Zhitnaya translates as Barley) originated from the Zhitny Dvor (Barley yard) adjacent to Kremlin where supplies of barley, corn, wheat, malt and other essential goods were stored.
