The stone single-span 28-meter Triumphal Arch was erected in 1827-34 to O. Bove’s project. The arch replaced the previous wooden one built in 1814 to welcome the Russian troops returning from Western Europe after they won a victory over French Emperor Napoleon I. The arch is crowned with the Chariot of Glory, a sculpture by I. Vitali.
