

An early 20th century postcard depicting Cudov onastery founded in the Kremlin by Metropolitan Alexy about 1358-1365 to commemorate the Tatar queen Taidula's curing of blindness. For centuries the monastery had been the heart of Moscow's spiritual life and enlightenment. The monastery was closed 1919 and the building demolished in 1929.
