

A Yakovlev Yak-3 fighter at the Charles de Gaulle exhibition at the Moscow-based State History Museum. French pilots of the Normandie-Niemen Regiment flew such fighters on the Eastern Front during World War II. This fighter which was presented to Charles de Gaulle by Josef Stalin in 1944 was delivered from the Le Bourget Air and Space Museum near Paris for the current exhibition. Thirteen crosses on its fuselage denote the number of German planes shot down by the pilot.
