

A monument to famous Russian writer Nikolai Gogol [1809-1852] will be unveiled on his 200th birthday in Saki, the oldest resort in Crimea, said the press service of the Saki City Council's Executive Committee. Gogol came to Saki for treatment in 1835 when the small town in north-western Crimea was just beginning to gain a reputation as a spa. "A large granite monument by sculptor Pavel Movchun from Kiev will be unveiled near the tax-admiistration building and the children's district hospital in downtown Saki," the press service said.
