On February 5, a Proton-M launch vehicle lifted off from the Baikonur space center in Kazakhstan. One of the rocket's fragments fell near the home of Altai shepherd Boris Urmatov, who decided to sue the Federal Space Agency [Roskosmos]. Urmatov demanded that Roskosmos pay 500,000 rubles [about $21,000] in damages. The Altai Republic's Emergency Situations Ministry said the fragment measuring 3 by 1.5 meters did not cause any damage or hurt anyone near Urmatov's home. The shepherd would receive compensation if experts prove that a rocket fragment did fall near his home. At the same time, Roskosmos representatives said the shepherd was exaggerating his claims.
