Stepanovs family. Nikolai Stepanov (1903-1963) went to war in the Fifth Guards Don Cavalry Corps in August 1941. As a private he fought in the North Caucasus and freed Ukraine from Nazi invaders. He was wounded several times and got badly injured in October 1944. After the Great Patriotic War he returned home as a disabled person and died of wounds.
