Biologist Garry Abelev, Full Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and U.S.S.R. State Prize laureate, won the New York Cancer Research Institute cancer immunology Gold Medal and Grand Prix, and Russia's 2001 Triumph independent national award for biological sciences.
