A ceasefire has been in effect in the Gaza Strip since January 19, following a deal between Israel and Hamas to exchange Israeli hostages for Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails. Earlier in the day, Trufanov and two other Israeli hostages were released after 500 days in captivity in the Gaza Strip.
