The Severny Polyus (North Pole) floating Arctic research platform is moored in the port of Murmansk, Russia. The ice-resistant self-propelled vessel is designed to be able to drift with the Arctic currents without interruption for two years. Its first expedition scheduled for late September 2022 will not be extensive, but more like a sea trial to test key equipment.
