Latvian President Egils Levits attends a flower-laying ceremony at the Memorial of the Great Choral Synagogue during the official Commemoration Day of Genocide against the Jews, in Riga, Latvia. The event took place at the memorial site of the Choral Synagogue in Riga which was burned to the ground while the victims were locked inside on the 4th of July in 1941. This date marked the beginning of the Holocaust in the territory of Latvia, and since 1990 has been dedicated to remembrance of all the Jews that were killed in the Holocaust during the Nazi German occupation of Latvia.
