A masked pro-independence Catalan demonstrator takes part in a rally to call for self-determination rights and support separatist leaders who are on trial, in Madrid, Spain. In February the Supreme Court of Spain began hearing cases regarding the Catalan referendum and declaration of independence in October 2017. 12 Catalan politicians are on trial, nine of whom have been charged with organizing a coup.
